1998 Rolls Royce Silver Spur - Saloon

£27,950.00

Unveiled in June 1995 for the 1996 model year, the fourth and final series of the Silver Spirit and Silver Spur were heavily revised and improved by Rolls-Royce. However, the new cars were simply known as New Silver Spirit and New Silver Spur as the IV suffix was a symbol of death in some Far Eastern regions. As before, the Silver Spur was the long-wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit gaining an additional 4 inches extra in the rear compartment.

Externally the cars sported new integrated wrap-around bumpers and both the front grill and Spirit of Ecstasy were reduced in size, all of which significantly modernised the design. In addition, the spare wheel was relocated inside the boot under the carpeted floor rather than underneath the car, as on previous models, which created a crisper style at the rear and a cleaner wheel-changing process. New distinctive 16-inch wheels were designed and the front door quarterlights were deleted.

The interior was also extensively remodelled with a new dashboard and centre console design and electrically adjustable steering wheel which automatically raised and lowered to ease entry and exit. The revised seats received vertical fluting and the new seat design also allowed an extra inch of headroom.

Mechanically the cylinder heads were revised and a new Zytek engine management system was employed. This coupled with a higher final drive ratio resulted in a 12% improvement in fuel economy. The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur (IV) is a rare model with only 110 RHD cars having been produced.

This low-mileage and one owner Silver Spur was ordered new in 1998 by its current owner and was supplied by The Thoroughbred Motor Company in St Albans. The original purchase invoice for the car is contained within the comprehensive vehicle records and illustrates that the purchase price for the car when new was £89,107.50.

The car was specified in probably the best colour combination for this model of Royal Blue with fine coach lines. Seats, knee roll, centre console, centre-stowage bin and rear parcel shelf were trimmed in magnolia leather. The steering wheel rim was covered in black hide and the headlining in Fawn.

The top-roll, seat piping and carpet binding were all specified in dark blue leather along with lambswool over-rugs also in dark blue. Wood fittings were in burr walnut with inlaid banding and options selected were an opening rear armrest, separate electronically adjustable rear seats, rear quarter badges, veneered picnic tables, loose foot rests (footstools) and chrome door mirrors.

The car has been used sparingly over the years and has now covered an extremely low mileage of 10,450 miles. The low recorded mileage is backed up by a comprehensive service and MOT history which is obviously available for a prospective purchaser to view. Servicing has been completed by Rolls Royce agents Hadley Green Garage who are located in Barnet, Hertfordshire. More recently the car has been located at one of the owners residences in the Cotswolds and has been used on an increasingly less frequent basis, resulting in the low recorded mileage.

The car can only be described as being in a virtually "as new" condition and is ready for its next owner to use and enjoy.

We invite sensible offers on this fabulous one owner, low mileage Rolls Royce.
